In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

My wife and I were recently shopping and before we made our purchase we asked abut the guarantee. What would our assurance be that we were purchasing a good product? After finding this out we were offered additional protection of the item if we wanted. My question is this, if the product is good, and the guarantee is good, why do I need additional protection? Salvation in Jesus Christ my friend is a good product and one that does come with a guarantee. The Holy Spirit of promise is our earnest, our guarantee that God is going to keep the promises that come with Salvation in Christ. The promise that our sin nature is taken care of, the promise of no condemnation, the promise of a home in heaven and many more as well. We need not look for any more protection than the Holy Spirit within and the sure Word of God. One thing more, we cannot purchase salvation for it is a free gift offered to all who will repent of sin and trust Jesus Christ and Him alone as His blood has been shed to bring that gift of salvation.
