1 Cor 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

We are to covet, desire, seek after, the best spiritual gifts. The Bible usually speaks about coveting or covetousness in a bad light, we are not to covet, but here in a good light, what is the difference? Here we are to covet earnestly. The best way to explain this is to say I am to covet those spiritual gifts so they can be used not for my good but God’s glory. When I covet earnestly as it says here I seek after those things that can be used to help and benefit others and the cause of Christ and not myself. There are those who try and use a spiritual platform to advance self but we are to use our spiritual gifts to advance Christ. What is you goal in serving the Lord? It will be for self or for Christ. When it is for Christ you are on the right track to using spiritual gifts in the right way.
