March 6th, 2020 by Pastor Solley1 Cor 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
KJV
I do find that I am to covet, desire to know what spiritual gifts the Holy Spirit has trusted me with so I am able to use them in service for the Lord. What are the best gifts? The next chapter deals with that question but for today let us remain in chapter twelve. The best gifts will not be those according to the liking of men. Some would say those listed in 1 Cor 12:28-30 are the best gifts.
(1 Cor 12:28-30 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?) That again according to man’s mind and reason. But are those the best gifts? What if we are not called to those things, gifted for those things? The best spiritual gifts for you are the ones you have been given. If that makes me just a simple doorkeeper in the house of God than that is the best gift for me. I am not to covet other men and their gifts, I am to covet or desire the spiritual gift God has given to me. More to come on the best gift and how it is used next week the Lord willing.
