13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
KJV
The words of verse thirteen have often been a comfort to many going through hardships and trials as they should be. We are reminded that no matter the trial others have gone through the same thing. But there are times we forget the context of this passage. Here we see Israel coming out of the world of Egypt on the way to the Promised Land and many of them were overthrown in the wilderness and fell short of that promise of God. Why? They were attacked by Satan and fell. That is the context of the above verses and they should be considered in light of the truth that every trial becomes a spiritual trial. Sickness, family troubles, financial troubles, whatever the trial it is a spiritual battle we are in and Satan wants us to fall. It would do us well to remember that the next time we are frustrated with life, the next time we are discouraged or depresses, Satan is trying to orchestrate a fall. That is why there is an escape offered and that escape is the Lord Jesus Christ. I know many are hurting today, many have unanswered questions today, many face mountains they deem impossible to climb. Remember there is a way to escape because everything at the core is a spiritual trial.
