January 21st, 2020 by Pastor Solley1 Peter 2:21-25 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
KJV
Yesterday we saw the first mention of sheep in the Bible, today we see the last. (1 Peter 2:25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.)
Interesting that the first mention of sheep concerns a sacrifice, Able brought of the flock a sacrifice to the Lord, and the last mention concerns one coming to the last and eternal sacrifice for sin Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the Shepherd and Bishop of the soul of one that has trusted in Christ as savior. We again are likened to sheep in the Bible so there is meaning here for us. Our life must begin with Jesus Christ, our eternal life. We then are to live unto Jesus Christ day unto day. Then our life in this world will end and our time in eternity begin when we stand united forever and ever with the Shepherd and Bishop of our soul.
