13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
KJV
Another year about to end. This is the time we look back and look forward as well. What do you see in the year ahead? What are your plans? In whose hand do you place the New Year. The Bible tells us here the folly of making plans we have no control over. We need to follow the advice we find in verse fifteen and place the New Year in the hands of God. I can give you a list this morning of all that I want to see in the New Year, but I also know none of those things or all of those things will come to pass only as God directs. What if His plans for me are not the same as mine? Most likely they are not so I need just turn all of 2020 over to Him. As I look back on 2019 I see that He did all things well and that includes things that did not go the way that I wanted. I am sure that if I, if we place the New Year in His capable hands we will be able to say the same thing next year at this time.
