December 2nd, 2019 by Pastor SolleyNeh 1:1-4 The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah. And it came to pass in the month Chisleu, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace,
2 That Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and certain men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.
3 And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.
4 And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,

I want to look at the revival that took place in the days of Nehemiah and focus on the enemies of revival which are many. This morning we see indifference as an enemy of revival. Nehemiah and Hanani both served in the court of a gentile king and while Nehemiah was serving in the palace and to the king directly Hanani was a messenger taking orders from the king to his different provinces and bringing back reports. One of the stops of Hanani was Jerusalem. On a return to the palace Nehemiah asks Hanani of the conditions in Jerusalem and what he hears breaks his heart and drives him to his knees in fasting and prayer. My point this morning is that those things mattered very little or not at all to Hanani. One man broken hearted, one man indifferent. Which are you this morning as you stand before the Lord, broken hearted or indifferent. What do we have to be broken hearted about? Look past the needs of our nation, the church, and others this morning and look within. Are you what you could be, what you should be as a Christian? What of your walk and relationship to Jesus Christ? As Satan knew Job as a man who walked with God does he know you? Do you move mountains in prayer? What of your relationship with Christ and your service to Him, is it what it should be? Now, are you indifferent to those shortcomings or do they break your heart and drive you to your knees? Indifference in an enemy of revival.
