1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Gold is very precious in our world today and has been almost from the beginning. Our monetary system is based on gold. We need gold to live, to purchase the food we need to live, houses we need to live in, cars we need to drive and for our retirement as well. Each time you hold a dollar in your hand your are holding a piece of gold it represents. What could be more precious than gold? The Bible says the trials we go through in life are more precious than gold. Why, how could that be true? Because those trials bring as closer to the Lord Jesus Christ. When we go through the trials of life and look more and more to the Lord for strength and victory over them they bring us, draw us closer to the Lord. To be near to God, to be near to the heart of Jesus, that is more precious than gold.
