2 Cor 12:7-9 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
KJV
I think a lot about strength as I get older, strength lost to years, strength that I will never get back. This shows up when I need to do something that seemed to take such little effort a few years ago and seems to take so much effort now. This happens I guess to every individual as they get older. But our spiritual strength is another matter, it never needs diminish, it can grow, we can grow stronger in the Lord even as we get older. One of the more amazing verses in the Bible to me is Joshua 14:11. (Josh 14:11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.) Here Caleb claims to be as strong at eighty years of age as he was at forty years of age. Impossible, or is it? Caleb’s strength I believe was in the Lord. As that man of God grew older he also grew stronger in the Lord. There is no reason we cannot do the same.
