Rom 3:23-24 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
KJV
Many times in the Bible one can read a verse of utter despair and a verse of unspeakable joy, one right after the other. Romans 3:23-24 is one of those times. What gloom I find in Romans 3:23. To be a sinner, to be short of the glory of God means an eternity apart from God. Sin is my nature and hell for all eternity is my end. Apart from God means more than not in His presence, it means hell for the sinner. There is nothing I can do about that, about my nature, about my sin. But to be justified is to be made just as if I had never sinner. How is this possible? Only by the shed blood of Jesus Christ, only by the cross. For those who repent of sin and turn to Jesus Christ there is a justification, not because of us, but because of Jesus. Now from gloom to glory in just two verses. What a blessing.
