Daily Devotions

Jer 32:41-42 Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.
42 For thus saith the Lord; Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them.

This is a puzzling thought. God is certainly pleased when we do good, but does God bring evil just so we can be good? God is not the author of evil or sin because God is holy and just so I know God did not bring the evil, God does not bring evil. God did not make Israel sin, did not move Israel to evil things and God will not do that today. But God did use the evil that Israel moved to in bringing them back to Him and when they came back God could bless them once again. It would have been better if Israel had just kept doing good and had not moved to evil. Today it would be better if we just obey and walk with the Lord. When we move to evil it is never because God sent us in that direction but God will chasten when we do and that chastening is often what beings us back to the Lord. But it would be better if we just obey.
