For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

There is a promise in these verses that means so very much to me. (Ps 37:4 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.) But is this a promise that God will give me whatever I desire? If it is there must be a problem with the verse or with me because there are many things that I desire that I do not have. Most of those things do not concern myself, they concern others and still I have not seen them take place to this point. God does want to give us the desires of our heart. (Ps 37:4 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.) But in the text I see that this promise comes with conditions. I must be trusting in the Lord (Verse 3), I must be obedient to the Lord (Verse 3), I must delight in the Lord (Verse 4) and I must be commit my ways to Him (Verse 5) Only when these things are found in my life can God give me the desires of my heart for then my desires will not be selfish.
