10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

I wonder what was going through the mind of Abraham at this moment, his son before him, the knife in his hand raised above his son, about to plunge it into Isaac, I wonder what was racing through the mind of Abraham? Was it really better to obey God? Why not obedience in every other area but not in this? How can I ever tell Sara about this? What was going through the mind of Abraham? Most likely all of those things and still Abraham would obey God. We know of course that the Lord stopped Abraham and provided another sacrifice but what a lesson in obedience. I wonder if we learn anything from it because I fear most of us do not. There are things God calls us to do far less demanding than this and still we will not do them. Pray without ceasing, assemble ourselves together, sing unto the Lord, there are many things we are called to do far less demanding than what we see in Genesis 22 and still we fail miserably. Let us take a lessons from Abraham and perhaps we will be able to obey in the simple things God gives us to do.
