Jer 3:14-15 Turn, O backsliding children, saith the Lord; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:
15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

The words that God spoke to Israel He continues to speak to those Christians who fall away from Him today. God is never pleased when one falls away, when one backslides, and God will move in judgment to bring them back. God does chasten my friend but always to this end, to bring us back. How long we remain in a backslidden state is up to us but God always chastens to bring us back, never to drive us farther away. All that God did to Israel was done to bring them back. Consider that truth when you feel the chastening hand of the Lord today, always to bring you back. God is married to us just as He is married to Israel and God will not divorce us. Salvation like marriage is permanent. When you feel God’s hand moving in a chastening way run to Him and not away for that is the direction He is leading.
