13 The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.

The fire on the altar in the tabernacle and later the temple was never to go out. This presented a problem during the wilderness wonderings but that fire was never to go out. So it is with our love and devotion, our fire for the Lord, it is never to go out. To burn it must be fed. The priest placed wood on that fire every morning. We must fuel our fire for the Lord as well, we must read the bible, we must meditate upon what we read, we must pray, we must place wood daily on our altar, we must keep the fire burning. Why have so many lost their fire for the Lord? It begins when we miss reading our bible, then prayer dwindles, soon there is no real desire to be in the house of God and then we are a Christian whose fire has gone out. Don’t blame the church, the preacher, other Christians, the world, just begin afresh and anew to place wood on the fire and you will see those embers spring back to life.
