Moat pictures of Samson are painted in a way to show him a big, muscle bound man. This verse tells me the opposite, that he did not have huge muscles, that he looked like an ordinary man, perhaps even smaller. They looked at him and wondered where his strength came from. I have met Christians like that. I see them go through things, things that I imagine would crush me, yet they continue to stand strong in the Lord, they keep their joy in the Lord. Many must wonder where their strength comes from. My grandmother was like that, my mother like that. I had to take grandma’s hand and tell her pap had died and they were so close. A peace and calm filled her as she at once prayed and thanked the Lord for His goodness. I sat in a doctor’s office with mom as she was told she had stage four cancer and the same thing happened. Where does that strength come from? The same place Samson received his strength. Where does your strength come from today?
