16 My beloved is mine, and I am his: he feedeth among the lilies.
17 Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, turn, my beloved, and be thou like a roe or a young hart upon the mountains of Bether.
KJV
I brought a message some years ago on the little foxes. They would sneak into the vineyard after dark through small holes in the wall or under the gate and eat away at the roots of the vines. In the morning the damage was hardly noticeable if at all. But they were killing the vines and the husbandman had to get rid of the little foxes or he would lose the vineyard. The application is clear, little things that don’t seem to matter can attack our spiritual life and while we will not lose our salvation we can become fruitless before our Lord. The things we watch on the TV, the company we keep, the music we listen to. All must be up to God’s standards so they do not hinder our spiritual fruit bearing. What you think is little and is unnoticed can be eating away at your spiritual life until one day you find your self barren before God. Beware of the little foxes.
