And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

The Olivet Discourse as it is called was given by Jesus just before the cross in response to a question asked by His disciples. They wanted to know of the setting up of the Kingdom of God and the time of the end, just like many people today. Jesus then gives a time line of events in the last days as they relate to Israel and one needs to read these chapters in that light or it can lead to some confusion. What of the last days for us, what do we need to be looking for? The same thing Israel is to look for, the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. But we look for that event in a different way. Israel is looking for Messiah to come to this earth and set up His kingdom which He will do. We look for the rapture of the church and the Lord Jesus Christ to catch us up in the air. What is the difference? The born again believer of this age will NOT go through the tribulation period while the nation of Israel will. When making a study of last days be sure to separate Israel from the church. While we look for the same one we look for Him at two different times separated by seven years.
