Jer 23:6-8 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE Lord OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
7 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that they shall no more say, The Lord liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
8 But, The Lord liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land.
KJV
The text this morning speaks specifically of Israel, how one day the nation will be restored and turn to the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation and righteousness. But what of your righteousness today? Israel after the deaths of Moses and Joshua turned quickly to idols, then to judges, then to kings, then back to idols, each one left them far short of righteousness. What have you turned to for righteousness today? Many trust in a church, in good works, in being loving and kind, in communion, in baptism, and the like. How many different ways a man tries to find righteousness cannot be counted. Still there is one who can make us righteous before God, only one who has made the way, and that righteousness can be found only in Him, only in Jesus Christ. Can you say today that Jesus is your righteousness? If not then you have fallen short of God’s demands and it is time to repent and be saved.
