Phil 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Very often it is the shorter verses in the Bible that say the most. There are twelve words in our text verse this morning, the longest containing five letters. But in this one verse we find the answer to a question man has been asking perhaps from the very beginning, what is the meaning of life, why are we here? Some philosophers have spent their entire life in search for the answer to that question. Years and years spent in higher institutions of learning, years and years of meditation, yet the answer escapes them, why are we here? What is the meaning of life? Yet the Bible gives us the answer in one verse, we are here to please God, to live for Jesus Christ, to honor Christ, to glorify Jesus Christ, that is the meaning of life. If you life has no meaning, no purpose then these steps need to be taken. You need to believe the gospel, you need to repent of sin, you need to place your faith for forgiveness and eternal life in Jesus Christ and Him alone, you need to be born again. Then you need to turn your life over to Him and live for Him. One verse says a lot.
