1 Sam 30:6
And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.

Many times we stand in need of encouragement today, but where to find it? Do we turn to family, friends, government, society, where can we find encouragement? Notice David turned himself to the Lord. If you study this time in David’s life you find he did many things without consulting with the Lord and it brought him trouble. Now when he was distressed, when the people wanted to stone him, where would David turn? Would he try and appease the people, would he turn again to allies he has made, where would David look to get the encouragement he needed? David turned to the one he never should have turned away from, David encouraged himself in the Lord. At times we feel the need to be encouraged be sure and turn to the right place, turn to the right one.
