1 Sam 3:1
And the child Samuel ministered unto the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was precious in those days; there was no open vision.
KJV
Isn’t it wonderful that the Word of God was precious to the people in that day? The Bible here means just the opposite of what we might think as it points out that most of the people had no desire to hear or obey the Bible. That sounds just like our day. Everyone today, at least here, has access to a Bible, has access to a church, has access to the Word of God. But just as in that day there are few who want to hear the Word and fewer still who want to obey it. Is the Bible precious to you? Not in the way the word is used in our text this morning, but in the way we would use it. Do you read your Bible daily? Do you apply what you read to your own life? Do you obey the Word of God? Just how precious is the Bible to you?
