Eccl 12:8-12
8 Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity.
9 And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.
10 The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.
11 The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.
12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
KJV
A lot of study, a lot of books, much learning, where does it take man, what does it get man? All is emptiness unless it leads one to the Lord. Just look at our society today. We have more knowledge available to us than at any time in history, everything at our fingertips. I remember when I was a young boy and the encyclopedia salesman would come around, every home had to have a set. Now all that knowledge and more is right in our hands and never needs to be updated, that is done hourly. Want to know what is happening on the other side of the world? Look at your smart phone. Yet our society is getting farther and farther away from God, getting worse and worse. What is all the learning doing for us when it is not directed at God? Much study becomes weariness of the flesh. Why not look to God?
