Solomon will be a very interesting man to talk to in heaven. Here we have a man who was used of the Holy Spirit to write down three books of the Bible. God used him to write a book of love, a book of wisdom, and a book of regrets. Ecclesiastes is that book of regrets. After a good beginning in the Lord, after a good beginning as king, Solomon allowed the riches of the world and the pleasures of the flesh to turn his heart away from God. As Solomon walked farther and farther away from God he tried more and more things to fill an every deepening void in his life. Nothing worked and finally at the end of his life he saw what he was missing. Notice the last words of this wise man, “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;” Here he encourages us to remember God in our youth. The thought here is not just to remember, but to never forget, to never walk away from the Lord. Solomon wasted many years, the best years of his life, and he does not want to see that happen to others. I want to consider this week the last words of Solomon and the wisdom they hold. For today, remember God.
