July 8th, 2026 by Pastor Solley1 Thess 5:25 Brethren, pray for us.
Acts 12:5-8 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.
8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

Here we find Peter arrested, kept in prison, awaiting his death at the hands of Herod. There was no hope for the deliverance of Peter. Yet there was hope that realized as the church gathered together and prayed for Peter. This was not five or ten minutes devoted to prayer request followed by a short time of prayer, this was earnest prayer without ceasing. This was the type of prayer we see in James chapter two. (James 5:15-19 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. 16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. 17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.) So impossible was the miracle prayed for that many who were praying for Peter doubted that he had been delivered. Never doubt what can happen when we gather as a church to pray.
