Ps 18:1-6 I will love thee, O Lord, my strength.
2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
3 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
4 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.
5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.
6 In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

A family in our area that I know was struck by a terrible tragedy yesterday and they do need prayer. Where do we turn when the sorrows of death compass us? Where do we turn when the floods of trials overcome us? David knew where to turn as he called upon the Lord to help him out of the deep and dark valley he was in. Where do we turn? There are times when life simply is not fair, when we don’t understand, when the distress so great we do not know what to do or where to turn. In those times we need the Lord even more. So many blame God for the tragedies of life when God is the only one who can lift us above them. This morning I cannot get that family off of my mind and while I don’t feel at liberty to share what has taken place I do feel that I can ask for prayer for them just as we all need prayer when we find ourselves where David was in Psalm 18.
