Col 4:2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
KJV
How many things are you thankful for in prayer each day? We as Christians are commanded to pray and we are also commanded to be thankful. (Col 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.) How many things do you give thanks for each day in prayer? We live in a world today that is very unthankful and evidence of that is how few times you hear the word thanks or thank you. When our children were young we always made sure that they said thank you when something was done for them by us as parents or by others. But often today when doing something for others you are left with no indication of thanks at all. We don’t serve to be thanked, but it is nice to hear. I believe God wants us to give thanks in prayer as well. We are to bring our needs, our wants, our desires to our God in prayer and God wants to hear them and meet our needs. But God also wants our thanks to be made know in prayer. (Ps 100:4-5 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. ; Eph 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Phil 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.) Be sure to make the giving of thanks a part of your prayer life.
