November 12th, 2024 by Pastor Solley1 Cor 2:4-5 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

In Moses there was a demonstration of the power of God as we noted yesterday. This morning we see that demonstration in Elijah. (1 Kings 18:11-12 And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here. 12 And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone from thee, that the Spirit of the Lord shall carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he shall slay me: but I thy servant fear the Lord from my youth.) Before the battle with the prophets of the idol recorded later in this chapter the power of God was seen upon Elijah. That man simply obeyed the call and commands of Almighty God throughout his life. Ahab knew of that power within Elijah as well. (1 Kings 18:17 And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?) What had Elijah been up to this point in His life? He had been a man of prayer, a man of devotion to Jehovah, a man of obedience to the voice of God and people, even lost people, saw that in Elijah. Can people see that in you today? If you are a Christian, can people see those things in you. I am humbled when people ask me to pray for them, when people listen as I read the Bible to them, humbled because I am seen as one who walks with God. Dear friend I am not always worthy of that and when I am not I ask my dear Savior to forgive and help me be what I ought to be, help me be what Elijah was, help me obey, pray, and walk with my dear Lord. That is a demonstration of the power of God in the life of a believer in Christ.
