Ps 51:15-17 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
KJV
David then found time and reason to praise the Lord. A right spirit, which we noted yesterday, will always find time and reason to praise the Lord. When given the opportunity we should always have praises to give to our Lord. When I was a young boy and the pastor of our church would ask for testimonies in a service there was always an older lady who was first to stand and give a testimony. It was always praises for her salvation, for Jesus forgiving and saving her, for how much Jesus loved and cared for her. She never missed an opportunity to stand and praise her Savior. Where has that praise gone today? Many times when asked if any have a testimony or praise the people sit in silence today. When the Sunday School teacher asks if any have a praise he should be left with no time to teach. When the pastor asks the same question he should be left with no time to preach. When was the last time you opened your mouth and praised the Lord? One does not have to wait to be asked, one can just praise the Lord for His goodness and His greatness bestowed on you. Has God been good to you? Let others know by giving Him praise.
