John 6:66-68 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
KJV
As a pastor I have wondered so many times over the years as I have watched people walk away from the Lord what they are walking to? Can any give to us what Jesus can? In Christ we have life. (John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.) In Christ we have rest. (Matt 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.) In Christ we have peace. (John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.) In Christ we have joy. (1 Peter 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:) I could go on and on this morning listing all the things we as born again believers can have in Christ. Where else can we get those things, who else can offer them? While in this world we will have struggles and trails, face mountains we never think we can get over, shed many bitter tears. But it is only in Christ that we can have what we so desperately need. Why walk away from Jesus?
