5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

Could there be a better place to be found than in the will of God? Peter would find out, as the man did we looked at yesterday from this same chapter, that there is no better place to be than in the will of God. But take note of the “Nevertheless” we find in verse five above. For Peter to launch out was going to take some effort. They had been all night fishing and caught nothing. They were already cleaning their nets. (Luke 5:2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.) They were ready for a well earned rest and sleep. It would take some effort to go out at the word of Jesus, just it will often take some effort on our part to dwell in the will of God. But that effort will be rewarded just as it was for Peter and the others. (Luke 5:6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.) What if Peter had not gone out? He would still call Jesus master, still believe that Jesus is the Messiah, none of that would change. But Peter would miss a great blessing because he did not obeyed the will of God. What we miss because we do not always desire to walk in His will one day may be known when we are in haven and those blessings can never be recaptured. What does God have for me today? I am not sure even as I write this but this one thing I do know, His will brings blessings that I cannot see until I walk in that good, perfect, and acceptable will of God.
