James 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
KJV
How many friends do you have? We know a lot of people, we call many our friends, but how many true friends do you have? My Bible says there is one “That sticketh closer than a brother”. How many true friends does one have? In our reading this morning we find the only one in the Bible that is called the “Friend of God”. That is not to say there were no others but Abraham is the only one called that in the Bible and that sets him apart. Did you know there is one that wants to call you friend? (John 15:14-15 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. 15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.) Your name, my name, will not be recorded in the Bible, but Jesus wants to call us His friends. Is there a better friend to have, a better friend to make than Jesus? What must we do? Obey His commandments. Obey the command to be born again. Obey the command to surrender ourselves to Him. Obey the command to love Him with all of our hearts. Obey the command to put Jesus Christ first in our lives. Obey His commandments. (John 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.) Is there a better friend to have, a better friend to make? Let us draw close to our Savior today and we can be called the friends of God.
