Eph 5:19-25 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Many times the preaching from this passage will focus on the wife first because the wife in submission to the husband is mentioned first. This morning I want to focus on the husband and his responsibility before God to make it possible for the wife to submit to his leadership in the home. Note verses 24-25. Why is the church subject to Christ? Several reasons. (1) Because of the love of Christ for the church. (2) Because Christ has set Himself aside for the church. (3) Because Christ died for the church. (4) Because Christ lives for the church. (5) Because Christ protects the church. (6) Because Christ provides for the church. (7) Because of Christ understands the needs of the church. For just these seven reasons, and there are many more, Christ makes it easy for us as Christians to submit to the leadership of Christ in our lives. How am I making it easier for my wife to submit to my authority in the home? When I am more like Christ, fulfilling the needs of my wife first as Christ fulfills the needs of the church, I make it easy for her to submit to Godly leadership in the home.
