2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

There have been many who have had a great spiritual influence upon me over my lifetime. Godly grandparents who I think of often. A mother and father devoted to the Lord and family and made going to church and serving the Lord a way of life. And then pastors along the way to shepherd and guide. Yesterday my wife and I received a great and unexpected blessing in church. As I was preparing to preach a couple were walking down the center aisle looking for a place to sit and I was pleased to see some visitors. Then I recognized my pastor and his wife from forty years ago and as I pointed them out to my wife both our eyes filled with tears of joy. He was my pastor when my wife and I married and became our pastor. God used him in great ways in helping us grow in the Lord, letting us see what devotion to the Lord is. God used him to instil a desire in both of us to serve Christ. We became very close and it broke our hearts when God called him away but we never lost sight of his example and he is one, as well as his wife, that had a great, great, spiritual influence on our lives. Because of different circumstance lately we were both in need of a blessing and God gave us one beyond measure. Able to spend the afternoon with them and then having him preach the evening message took us back those forty years as it seemed like those years of separation were never there. Praise God for unexpected blessing and for faithful men and what God can use them to do.
