2 Thus saith the Lord that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.
3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:
4 And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.
KJV
I was thinking about verse four in our reading this morning and the times I have been thirsty. Times when just one drink of water would help satisfy that thirst and how good that water tasted when I finally got it. I wonder then at the times I have been spiritually thirsty and did not search out that spiritual drink that I needed in the same way I searched for that water to quench my thirst. The Bible is speaking of course of that spiritual thirst we all have and the only place one can have that thirst satisfied. We need the Lord Jesus Christ to satisfy that spiritual thirst in our lives, that spiritual need. The psalmist knew the one who could meet that need. (Ps 42:1-2 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. 2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?) Do you know the one who can meet that need in your life today? Do you know the one who can pour spiritual waters upon you? If yes, do you come to Him daily to have your thirst quenched? We need time with our Lord today, needed that time yesterday, and will need it tomorrow.
