Heb 12:1-2 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
KJV
Who are you looking unto today? Many years ago we took out one of those full life insurances policies that is about to be paid in full and a representative of that insurance company met with me to discuss my plans for the future. When am I going to retire? When will I begin to draw on the policy? What do I expect the future to look like? I had no real answer for his questions because at this point I am just looking to Jesus and continue to place tomorrow in His capable hands. The agent could not understand what he thinks is short sighted thinking and while I know we need to plan for the future I continue to believe we should place all in our Savior’s hands. When will I retire? I do not yet know. What do I expect the future to look like? I know my Lord will bless and provide because that is His promise to me. Is that short sighted thinking? Perhaps the world thinks it is but it is still better to place our lives in the one who not only authored our faith but will finish our faith as well. Who are you looking unto today?
