21 And they stood every man in his place round about the camp: and all the host ran, and cried, and fled.

If you take time to study the record of the battle above you will find no earthly reason why Gideon and his small army had victory over the vast army of Midian and you will be correct. There is no earthly reason for that victory, but there is a heavenly one as Gideon stood with the sword of the Lord. We have that same sword available to us today. (Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: – Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.) But how much time do we spend in the Word of God, how much time reading our King James Bible, how much of God’s Word have we committed to memory? If you want to experience spiritual victory in your life, if I want victory in my life, then we need grab hold of the “Sword of the Lord”. I am reminded of one of David’s might men who held a sword so long in battle that he could not let it go. May we grab hold of the sword available to us today and never, never, never let it go.
