1 Peter 5:4-6 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
KJV
A command is given in verse six above that few seem to obey today. Humility is something that God demands in His children and something few seem willing to take on. Listen to our politicians today and you find no humility at all as they all think that nation will dissolve without them and their ideas. Sadly the same attitude is found among many preachers today as they tout all that they have done and are doing as if God cannot get along without them. Yet we have that command “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God”. There is also a warning in the command that if we refuse to humble ourselves God can and will do that for us. What do you think of yourself today? What would happen if you were not around after today? Would the world fall apart, would God’s church no longer exist, what do you think of yourself? Be careful not to allow pride to life you up for when it does there is a fall coming. “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God”. Let it be God that exalts you and not yourself.
