There are times when one seems to hit a roadblock in the Christian life, times when we know we need draw closer to the Lord but just seem to fall short of that closeness and communion with Christ that we find promised in the Bible. At times like these we should consider verse seven above and ask ourselves what is hindering us? The Bible says who above and we do need to keep right fellowships as iron does indeed sharpen iron. But I have found in my life it is not the who but the what I have allowed to hinder me. Many times we allow the things of the world to come between us and our relationship with our Savior. Too much TV, too much social media, too much time spent on things that are not necessarily evil but become that when we allow them to hinder our walk with the Lord. What is in your life today that in hindering you? We need ask as David did “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:” And when those thoughts hinder our walk we need ask God to change us. (Ps 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.) May we put away the things that are hindering us.
