Matt 19:13-15 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.
14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.
KJV
The word suffer is found quite a few times in the Bible with several different meanings. In our text this morning Jesus is warning not to forbid little ones, young ones, from coming to Him. What is interesting is who Jesus warned. It was His disciples that received the warning. They were interested in sharing the gospel with the masses, sharing the gospel with the religious leaders of Israel, doing great things for the Lord and did not want to be bothered with the children or those who were bringing them. But Jesus lets them know just how important children were and are to Him. We being our week of Vacation Bible School this morning and I ask for your prayer. Teachers have studied lessons, the church has been decorated, crafts and snacks are ready to be eaten and put together and a picnic planned for Friday. All we need now are the young people to be brought out today. Please pray that the Holy Spirit is free to do a work in the hearts of the children this week, that the Word of God be rightly divided by the teachers, for souls to be saved and decisions made for the Lord Jesus Christ. Pray that we see the first verse of Eccl. fulfilled in many lives this week. (Eccl 12:1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;)
