Eph 6:1-4 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
KJV
Happy Father’s Day on Sunday and I want to honor my earthly father today. He did fulfill the command in verse four above. My father trained me in the ways of the Lord, took me to church, was an example of a Godly man. He taught me to obey him and my mother and that helped me learn to obey God. He worked hard to provide for us and also worked hard for the Lord. He helped people without being asked and that example pointed me to a life of service. Dad would never stop because he was sick, tired, or hurt and that taught me to keep going no matter what. When I would leave the house as a teenager dad would tell me to remember who I was and what I was and that taught me the importance of a testimony. I was not always what dad wanted me to be but because of him I know Proverbs 22:6 is true. Dad has been gone for almost ten years but I still try and honor him day after day by the life that I lead. I look forward to seeing Jesus first in heaven but I also know I will see dad there one day as well. If you still have your earthly father give him a hug on Sunday and tell him how much he means to you.
