Manoah is a father to be, his child not yet born. There are a lot of things for a new father to do as far as getting ready for the baby about to be born and there are a lot of unknowns to be faced for the very first time. Manoah looked in the right direction to get the answers to the questions he had, he looked to the Lord. He probably had the very same ones we have had to give us advice as we awaited the birth of a child. His parents, her parents, their grandparents to give them advice and that was good. But that was not the advice and counsel that Manoah looked, Manoah looked to the Lord, looked to the angel of the Lord. Very often that angel of the Lord that appeared in the Old Testament was the Lord Jesus Christ and it is very clear that Manoah was seeking to obey a command long before it would be put into print. (Prov 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.) Manoah had a desire to bring that child to the Lord. (Eph 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.) Like God knew Abraham, like God knew Joseph, God knew Manoah. What does God know about me? What does God know about you?
