1 Thess 4:13-18 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
KJV
Why so important to be awake in this day, why so important not to sleep? Most Christians, including myself see the Second Coming of Jesus Christ as very near and the first part of that Second Coming is the rapture of the church as seen in the above passage. Surly things cannot continue much longer. There has been the falling away of the church, these are dangerous times, the one world order is ready to be ushered in as well as the one world church. Can things go on much longer, is the return of the Lord far off? I think not. But then I am reminded that the believers in Paul’s day looked for the return of the Lord and that was 2,000 years ago. What is at steak, why do we need the keep awake? It is the next generation and the one after that, it is your children and grandchildren. What if the Second Coming is still 50 years away, still 60 years away, what of the next generations? We cannot, must not let our children and grandchildren see us quit serving, quit living for the Lord, they need an example in these last day, an example of a Christian living for the Lord, serving the Lord that they can follow. Keep awake for them.
