Cor 13:1-8 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
KJV
The test of time. Charity never fails. (Verse 13) Many people get married just because they say they are in love. Those same people get divorced because they say they fell out of love. Love must survive the test of time. We have couples in our church married less than a year and a couple married more than 60 years. I can’t say the ones married more than 60 years are more in love, or have a greater love, but their love has passed the test of time. What of your love for Jesus? I also know those same ones married all those years are faithful to the house of God, faithful to Jesus, that love also has passed the test of time. On the other hand I know professing Christians who seemed to walk faithfully with the Lord fall away very quickly. Jesus loves them no less, will do as much for them as possible, yet they walked away. Where was or where is their love? Does your love pass the test of time?
