Matt 21:1-11 And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,
Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.
And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.
All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.
And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,
And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.
And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.
And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?
And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.

As was stated on Friday last week I want to look at Jesus and how He was presented to Israel, why He presented Himself in such a meek and lowly fashion. Yes, that first answer and most important is that it was in fulfillment of prophecy. (Zech 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. – Gen 49:10-11 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. 11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes) Jesus Christ would fulfill these Old Testament prophecies concerning His coming into Jerusalem, would fulfill each and every Old Testament prophecy concerning Him. One thing we need to be able to trust in is the Word of God and fulfillment of prophecy, not some but all, give us assurance that God is true and God’s Word is true. Jesus could have had the angels of heaven lead Him into Jerusalem, could have had the angelic army overthrow Rome and make Him King of that time of the world. Jesus as the one with the Divine and royal rights to the throne of David could have done those things. Why then not? Because of Old Testament prophecy. God is true my friend and His Word is true. As I sit here at my desk this morning I am able to open my King James Bible and here absolute truth, truth for the day it was given and truth for me today, truth for us today. I hope you understand how important this is, that in a day and age when people cannot be depended upon, that you can depend upon God, that truth can be found each and every day. Because Jesus came into Jerusalem in the way that He did we know that God’s Word is true.
